Life is Laundry
Which may sound a bit depressing. But what else could life even be?
Life is not something which magically appears or begins when the laundry is folded, the dishes are cleaned, and the grass is cut. Life is that thing which never ends until it’s actually over, life is the all encompassing experience which we can’t escape from, no matter how busy we become or how much we distract ourselves. Life is all around us. It envelopes us. It is a thick pungent fog. It is a mist covering every surface imaginable.
And whether the surface being covered is as small as a folded shirt or as large as a Fortune 500 Company— life remains an inescapable persistent force.
Life is laundry, not because life sucks, but because life can’t be anything else than all the big and small surfaces which it envelops.
When we remind ourselves that life really is all encompassing there’s no need to literally buy into the belief that we must become liberated from its mundanities. When life is viewed as an inescapable mosaic the small boring moments we might have traded away become irreplaceable aspects of an impossibly intricate and beautiful whole.
